Prayer Request

Please pray for my Uncle Jerry. He is in surgery today removing part of his jaw/throat/tongue. He has cancer really bad and will be in an induced coma for the next two days as he recovers. The doctors have given him a 60% chance of survival. Please pray that he makes it through okay and that the doctors see and do what needs to be done. Thanks.

Refreshed

We escaped this weekend. We took Tumbleweed and pampered her and ourselves on Catalina Island. We got in touch with nature, played hard and rested plenty. It was great - I will upload pics and post them as soon as I get the chance.

It was so good to get away and not have a worry in the world... I am feeling like a new person now. Refreshed! It was good to be back in my own bed Monday night even if it was rocking like we were still on a boat. LOL!

Have a great day!

Camping Lake Jennings

Just Another Beautiful Day!RO relaxing in his hammock...Me and My Momma Gaurd Dogs on Duty Pierre

Some of the Beautiful Nature...

It was only a two day stay for us but we had a really good time... the dogs really loved to get away... we went on one long hike around the lake... it was a real nice one. We BBQed Steak and mushrooms for my parents Saturday night. We didn't do any fishing this trip... I had a cold so I didn't get near the water....the day we left we went on a dirt road down to the Lake and around it a bit... that was fun. All in all it was a nice trip and great to take a break.

Always Sleep with One Eye Open

Really I think she is thinking, "Mom. Don't bother me, I am resting!" This was taken after the MS WALK.

Candy Gram from God?

At work we have been eating Promises Dove Chocolates. One of the owners had brought them in for us. Each little foil wrapped candy has a message inside. Well since last Friday I have gotten the same message three times in a row. It says, "Don't think about it so much". I really do think that God is trying to tell me something and I am going to try to listen.

Summer is Coming

Slip on your bathing suit
Under your sundress
Might end up on the beach
Might end up at the pool
Everyday is a sun shiney day
Relax and unwind

It's time to
Shine

Crank up the tunes
Outside the BBQ's
Make everyone drool
It's summer time
Never ending days
Glorious starry nights

Retail Therapy

Last Friday I took a half day to go shopping with my mom and take her out to lunch... We went to the Veijas Outlet... we had a great time! I didn't find too much for clothes up there but found a great little purse at Liz Claiborne for only $9.99... Wooo HOO! It is pictured below too. Then yesterday my shoes came! I ordered them a few weeks back from Target... I had caught a cold over the weekend and was having a crumpy day since I couldn't breathe all day but when I got home to my waiting package and put on my new shoes I was HAPPY! It is funny how a new treat for yourself can change your whole attitude.

New Shoes make me HAPPY!

Aren't they Cute? Love them!

My hubby loves them too :-)

Perfect Articokes with Spicy Dipping Sauce

PERFECT ARTICHOKES
2 - 3 Medium Artichokes
(Large ones are a little tougher but can be used)
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Tbsp Butter
Salt/pepper
Morton's Nature Seasoning
Garlic Salt
Wash the Artichokes and cut off the top inch. Cut off the stem leaving only about 1/2 inch of stem on. Fill a large saucepan with about an inch and a half of water and the butter. Place Artichokes in the pan stem down and drizzle tops with Oil. Sprinkle generously with seasonings, cover pot tightly with Aluminum Foil and put on medium/high heat for ten minutes. Reduce heat to Medium/Low for an additional 20 minutes....
Check by poking stem with a fork - it should be very tender.
Spicy Dipping Sauce
3 Tbsp Mayo
1 tsp Ketchup
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp Cayenne Pepper
Tabasco to taste
Mix all well and serve with chokes.
YUMMY!

Word of the Day

Obstreperous:

1) Making a great disturbance; clamorous; boisterous.
2) Unmanageable; unruly.

Example: Like everyone else here, I am feeling obstreperous today.

LOL! I crack myself up.

Oh Beautiful!

This is where we are going this weekend.... the Carlsbad Flower Fields http://visit.theflowerfields.com/
Check out the tribute flag they made. It's hard to believe those are all Red, white and blue anemone flowers strategically planted on a 300 by 170 foot hillside.

Old Hawaii Shots

Oh how I miss it...

Aching to go back... soon enough...

Padres

We went to Petco Park to see the Padres play Washington - they didn't win but we sure had a good time... the park wasn't very crowded I guess no one was really interested in seeing Washington... it made for a pretty relaxing night.
We walked around a lot and checked out the stadium - which we really hadn't much of a chance to do before. The past few times we went we had such good seats we were glued to them. We bought a couple of ridiculously priced beers... two for $14.00 and a Rubio's fish taco to snack on. It was a great night, but Darn those guys for losing.... oh well! We'll see what they do tonight.
