Tumbleweed's BIG OUCH!

My poor POOH BEAR!
On Friday I came home from work and noticed a quatersize HOT SPOT on my dogs Tail! AHHH! She has very sensetive skin and come summer time when it is warm out (and BOY! it has be HOT HOT HOT! lately) she some times licks her legs and leave little dime size sores on her, which I can quickly heal with a little anitbiotic/neosporin cream and dry banages for a couple days...but NEVER has she done this to her tail... so we decided to put a cone on her head Friday night (AKA an Elizabethen Collar) to try to prevent it from worsening... Well by Sunday night it had grown to about the size of half a dollar bill or bigger.... AHHH! I was freaking out all weekend and she was just oh so miserable - I felt so bad for her - we all did (the family was over visiting all weekend) I tried to just comfort her and get her to drink lots of water...

So yesterday when I got Tumbleweed to the vet they shaved off about 6 inches of her tail and scrubbed it 3 times with Antiseptics and then put iodine on it and then they gave her a HUGE shot in her back of Cortisone and then put Hydro. cream on it and gave her Antibiotic shot and gave her Antibiotics to take home (2 a day) and cream to put on her (3 x’s a day) and benedril and showed me how to wrap a FULL size towel around her neck and THEN put a cone on her so she can’t get around the cone – he said because of her shape she was sneaking around her cone all weekend- AHHHH! - when I wasn’t looking of course – BAD SNEAKY GIRL! (or should I say SMART GIRL) So that is why it got so bad so quick– I ran threw all the things I was doing for her this weekend to make it better and dry it out, I couldn't understand why it kept ozing and bleeding - UGH! Her Doctor said I was being a good parent and did all the right things but she was undermining me…BAD GIRL! 186.00 dollars later we got to go home.... he told us that with the Cortisone shot (which will last about a week) she would be feeling better in about 4 hours - we left about 5:40 and by 8:30 she was smilling and beginning to wag her tail a little bit - that is the calmest and happiest I have seen her in about a week.... OH WHAT A RELIEF! I feel soooo much better now, know she feels a little better, I can now consentrate again... now I can only hope for a speedy recovery.

HOT SPOTS (defined by Dr Paulson) : begins with an ich that just doesn't go away - Like a BAD mosiquito bite on humans... the dog iches and scratches and chews never finding releif... the heat and humidity worsens and agravates it more... Heat and moisture also inables bacteria to grow...
HIS ADVISE FOR THE FUTURE: if your dog begins on one of these the best bet is to clean it, dry it well and put some cortaid (not neosporin- although that is good for cuts/scraps on your pup) on it and dry bandage it once or twice a day - or EVEN better keep nothing on it so it can air dry....over the counter benedril helps relieve the ich too....

Mexican Chicken Casserole

Happy Friday to ya'll!

Here is a recipe to a yummy dish my mom used to make us while we were growing up!
It is pretty simple to make, makes lots and is filling and delish!
Try it out some day - I bet you will love it!

Mexican Chicken Casserole
(JO’s Mom’s Recipe)

4 *Chicken Breast Halves (cooked)
1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 Can (7oz) whole green chili’s (mashed or chopped)
3 Cups Sour Cream
6 Green Onion tops chopped
1/3 cup milk
Pinch of Garlic salt
Salt and pepper to taste.
1 10oz plain tortilla chips
¼ lb jack cheese
¼ lb sharp cheddar cheese

Toppings (optional):
Red or Green Taco Sauce
Chopped Avocado

Crush chips (fun for kids to do) and line bottom of 9x13 inch pan or two 8 inch pans. Break up and shred cooked chicken into bite size pieces. Mix all ingredients except chips and cheese. Pour mixture over chips, top with graded cheeses. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Cool briefly before serving. Top with Avocado chunks or Taco sauces.

Serves 6-8

Enjoy! Yummy!

*If you are in a hurry, you can buy a rotissere chicken and shred that too - Gives lots of good flavor...

Good-bye Dinner Plans

Tonight there are 13 of us going to downtown Little Italy.... We are all getting together to visit before my Mom moves away. Her packers are coming next Thursday and they are pulling out on Friday morning. We are going to eat at a yummy Italian Place, the place we had our Rehearsal Dinner for our wedding... So that will be nice. I am looking forward to the get together... and I am most certain my mom is looking forward to the time together with everyone as well... She has been working OH SO HARD packing and preparing for her departure... She is a worn out zombie right now... she needs a BREAK! This will probably be our last meal together til Christmas... it is going to be awfully hard to say good-bye... I still haven't figured out why she doesn't want to retire in our beautiful city with her family and friends - I guess I will never figure that out. Oh well :-(

12 days!

12 more days til Angela is expected here!

Can't wait to see her!!!

Hard to imagine that she is ready to come out already!

:-)

A Dream with Meaning?

So the other night I had freaky dream...

I was dreaming I was asleep and kept hearing booms...Boom Boom BOOM! I thought that it was our Camp Pendleton Marines doing drills but there was too many booms to be just a drill - so I turned on the TV to see what was going on and they were shooting missles at us (I don't know who THEY are - it was a dream) A map came up to show where the US was taking hits and there were a TON where we live ( I can still see the map in my head).... the news was telling us to stay put in our homes... I was freaking out, I kept telling my husband, "We need to get out of here! We can't stay here!" He was telling me we are safe at home...I woke up sweating and my heart pounding... My last thoughts of the dream still lingered with me, my husband reassuring me that we are safe...

Frassled I turned on the TV and checked the news...nothing happening here, I went back to sleep...

But now I keep thinking, "what if?"

As part of our earthquake/disaster readiness at our home we always have about a month or so worth food and a first aid kit, and usually 5 or 6 gallons of water. But since it has been so hot lately we have lazily resorted to drinking our back up water supply rather than going out and buying more and our little propanes have been getting used up for summer camping and picnic trips ....

So I am thinking that we better get our stock back into shape... and that is my goal this week...

Always wise to be ready for an emergency..... Are you?

HAPPY FRIDAY 2 U

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TERESA!! (My mother-in-law)

Tomorrow we will be up early and on our way to the beach early... we are going to BBQ and rent a Jet Ski to celebrate Teresa's B-day.... there will be about 9 or 10 of us... Fun FUN!! we'll take Tumbleweed along as she loves to swim and is a great Jet Ski passenger as well.... I need to get a picture of that :-) It is a really good idea to head West for the day, the beach will be a nice cool 80-82 degrees - East County is expected to be an oven... San Diego is having a heat wave - 108 degrees in the mountains and 112 in the deserts - which means the foothills where we live will be about 100-105 - AHHHHH!! HOT HOT!

Have a Great Weekend!

I fell in love this morning

I fell in love this morning with a little pup - I wish I had a big home and yard to welcome this dog into our home - but with our little home that we already have two dogs in I just can't :-(

Here are some pictures of her - her name is MeMe - she is a heeler mix and is deaf... she is already learning some signs and I wish I could work with her and teach her more sign language... I pray that she finds a good and loving home... She is just precious! I think she is really beautiful! Heelers have GREAT tempermants and are good with other dogs and with children too... they are such faithful breeds...

19 more days!

19 more days til my best friends baby is due - I can hardly wait!

Angela we are dying to see you! :-)

Momma you are almost there!

Just another Day

Welp - physical therapy was a painful experience but the guy was really nice and seemed to care about his patients so that is very nice.... Following his advice, I came in to work this morning and did some rearranging of my work station and desk.... that should help a lot... I think.... I have my computer in front of me instead of to the right - which will keep my neck in a better position... and my arms and legs both in 90 degree angles...we will see what the future holds.

I am feeling pretty Cranky today!!

I started this morning feeling very Cranky - it is 4pm now and guess what??? I am still feeling really cranky ....EEEEERRRRRRRRR!!!!

My frustrations are not without reason.... I have been trying to avoid writing about this on my blog - because.....

A. I don't want to complain all the time

and

B. I have been advised against talking about it with anyone but my doctors....

But since it is my first and last thought of every waking day here I go.....

MY Friggin arm is KILLING ME! And so is my BacK, NECK and shoulders!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!! I got in a car accident May 17th and it wasn't my fault (I will leave it at that and not get into details) But now.... as a result of that - My right shoulder is like 2 - 3 inches or more lower than the left which has left me all out of WACK! I am constantly in pain :( My body is contorted into an odd and painful position...

My favorite time of day used to be when I climbed into bed - but now that is the WORST time of day - it is SOOOO hard to fall asleep and it is a restless night every night :-(

I just want to cry all the time - but I know that won't help so I try not to... but sometimes when I am driving - the tears just roll and roll and roll.... even clicking my mouse hurts.... IT JUST PLAIN SUCKS!! BOO HOO!

Okay I am done - I will try to not mention it again until I have some good news about my progress.... I go to Therapy tomorrow - that should be fun.... NOT!! ouch ouch ouch!

Thank you Mr President...

I was glad to hear Mr Bush speaking as soon as I sat at my desk this morning... it is difficult to wait for your leader to speak when everyone else in the country has so much to say... Trouble is, he didn't say anything that made any of us feel better...

For those of you that missed it, it went something like this.....blah ...blah blah... blah blah blah blah....UN...blah... diplomacy...blah...nations...blah... questions??? blah blah!

Now we know that the BIG one he shot off was aimed at Hawaii!! AHHHHH!!

Knock Knock Mr. Bush

Okay - I think we are all getting nervous Mr. President! We would really appreciate if you had something more to say... I understand that it is nessasary to be careful - but the people here would appreciate some reassurance... these test missles falling in the ocean may have been made to fall there - NEVER UNDERESTIMATE your enemy!

This Crazy, power hungry leader, Mr Kim is craving attention (http://www.washtimes.com/national/20060705-015519-6396r.htm) - he may have company helping him out. I don't think his actions should be taken lightly... Just my opinion... A LITTLE LESS TALK AND A LOT MORE ACTION WOULD BE APPRECIATED....
