Last Weekend's Trip

Early last Friday we loaded up another rented RV and headed towards the mountains for our traditional Memorial Day Weekend camping trip to the Laguna Mountains. I didn't think we were going to go this year. Since I am pregnant, I thought well I am not going to be peeing in the forest 5 times a night outside my tent so I guess we aren't going. Well my hubby didn't want us to miss the trip so not only did he rent us the rig to go in but he also took FRIDAY OFF! He hardly ever takes a day off so I was really happy about that. A DOUBLE TREAT!

Well we hit the road about 9:30am a nice early start. Check out the spooky ride up there. I wanted to video it but frankly I was a bit nervous and thought I should keep my eyes on the road... even though I wasn't the one driving.

When we got up to our destination to our amazement it was SNOWING! Crazy huh? We sure thought so! It never snows in San Diego County in MAY.... Strange!
We got settled in, made and ate some lunch then took a looong nap. At about 2pm we decided to get out side and enjoy the crazy storm. Snow, hail and freezing rain fell for hours. WEIRD!

Do you like their fake napping portraits?

(Actually these pics where taken on night Friday after the cold stormy day. Tumbleweed was so tired from playing and was warming her bones as she was very wet, icy and cold when we came in.)

RO made us a BIG fire with some fine dry wood we had brought up and lit up the outdoor propane heater. We sat in between the two to stay toasty warm...It snowed for about 4 hours. It was beautiful. Good thing we had warm clothes, we needed them. It was a chilly 35 degrees that day.

(I took some great video of the snow but for whatever reason I am unable to upload it so it will have to wait for another time.)
Tumbleweed found the weather strange, she loves the snow but it was only falling and there was none to play with on the ground. It was too warm underfoot and it melted as it touch the earth.

That didn't stop her from having a fabulous time though. (check out her video below)

My little cutie, having soooo much fun!

The next day our neighbors came up with their boys and camped out with us a night. We had called them Friday night and told them to stay behind since they were tenting it, it was just too wet and too cold.

So when they got there we went for a walk and with the blue sky shining above it snowed again! Only for about 15 minutes this time - but enough to give everyone a smile and a thrill.

It was sunny but chilly still the rest of that day. We all had fun hiking, biking and talking.

The rest of the weekend turned out beautiful - nice and sunny. It was so much fun. Enjoy the pics and video.

Hi Jo! Sorry for the speedy visit! I’ve been busy the whole last week and will be out in the next, so this is far less than your blog deserves… ;(( But I promise I’ll come back with more time after June 10th, at least…
However, to avoid leaving you deserted, I published a last post on Marrakesh 2006 at Blogtrotter. ;))
Enjoy!

Well that was a fun and COLD post!. Yeah, our weather was so unseasonable here too, (towards the mountains) but no snow, just lots of hail.

Jennifer

Just looked at the video of Tumbleweed
so cute. They love pulling branches around. Our dog does
the same thing.

Jenny, Tumbleweed showed you two that she is no dummy. You sent here after a stick (tree trunk) and she brought back a pine cone. She wanted to play catch not lumberjack. Such a cool dog.

Love you,

Dad
