Here she is.... BECKY the Great!

While at the fair, it was my priviledge to be able to ride a young elephant. I asked her trainer what her name was and was thrilled when she told me. Her name was Becky! Just like my favorite Aunt! :-) She was a sweetheart. She weighed 4500 lbs and was 20 years old. I was petting her the whole ride and talking to her and the guy walking with me was laughing at me - he said she must like you. I asked why and he said, "well, she keeps rolling her eyes back trying to see you while you talk..." I think maybe she just liked that I was massaging her head while she walked... I think she is adorable and I hung out to visit with her a long time after I rode her. This was my highlight of the fair for me and well maybe even the highlight of my year. :-)

Those of you who know me, know I ADORE elephants... they blow my mind.

I think she is BEAUTIFUL! Maybe I will go back and visit Becky againt his weekend.

The San Diego County Fair

How funny is it that they changed the name?



The San Diego County Fair is at the Del Mar Fair grounds... LOL!

It's Gonna Be A Hot One

So this morning the radio tells me it is going to be a perfect 72 at the beaches today and I think to myself, "oh I can't wait for the weekend, we'll go to the beach." Today it will be 89 inland (that is where I live) the 72 at the beach sounded perfect.










Well two minutes after that they said - tomorrow the temp is going to jump 15 DEGREES!!! WHAT?! And it will stay that way the next 3 days. AHHHHHH!!! It is going to be HOT HOT HOT!! That means over 100 degrees at my house, and the means everyone from East County will be wanting to hit the beaches. HMMM??







That means the beaches will be in the high eighties... I guess it is time to jump in that oh so cool Pacific Ocean to cool off. I can't wait for the weekend! :-) It will be a crowded beach weekend!

New Baby on the Way

Congrats to them... Soon they will be a family of 4!

Wedding Ring Finger

Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger?

Thumb represents your Parents

Second (Index) finger represents your Siblings

Middle finger represents yourself

Fourth (Ring) finger represents your Life Partner

& the Last (Little) finger represents your children

Firstly, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together - back to back.

Secondly, open and hold the remaining three fingers and the thumb - tip to tip
(As shown in the figure below):

Now, try to separate your thumbs (representing the parents)..., they will open, because your parents are not destined to live with you lifelong, and have to leave you sooner or later.

Please join your thumbs as before and separate your Index fingers (representing siblings)...., they will also open, because your brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives.

Now join the Index fingers and separate your Little fingers (representing your children)...., they will open too, because the children also will get married and settle down on their own some day.

Finally, join your Little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse).

You will be surprised to see that you just CANNOT....., because Husband & Wife have to remain together all their lives - through thick and thin!!

I didn't get a chance to get on the computer this weekend and work on the pictures. I am sorry.
I did take a whole bunch more though. And I was looking over what I have and there are some great pics of the Air Show. I can't wait to get those up.

Just for kicks - I am posting this old picture of Tumbleweed swimming. It is a lovely memory I have of her as it was a beautiful day... she swam in this little pond after a short hike to get there...we ate our picnic lunch while we watched her swim... she was retreaving a stick for us. She dried up nicely on the way back :-) Maybe we will take her there again this weekend. We haven't been out that way in a while. She hasn't been swimming in a long time.

Well I Can Day Dream I Am There

Here is a pic I snapped in Hawaii on our honeymoon... I am having Hawaii withdrawls today. Maybe it is because my co-worker is in Maui right now - he left for there yesterday. I am jealous!

It's Friday!

We are heading back to Sea World tonight - they are having a reception for the reopening of the Penquin Encounter. It will be nice to catch the sunset there and maybe a band or two. I love Summer Nights!


Tomorrow we will enjoy Wings Over Gillespie(http://www.wingsovergillespie.org/) from our patio and house.... we are really lucky to be able to see all the old war planes from our couch or bedroom if we so choose. As a matter of fact, we can see them in the flight path from every window in our house as well as outside. We have always enjoyed the old planes... they began flying in last night. FUN FUN! The whole nieghborhood hangs outside watching the sky all this weekend every year, as we are in the perfect spot. I want us to BBQ - but I am not sure what yet. Something to think about.



Father's Day we are going fishing and picnicing at Santee Lakes... it will be extra nice if we catch something - I heard the bass are biting...

Deer in Catalina

Here are some pics I snapped in Catalina of the Mule Deer there. The last picture with dishes all about on the ground was taken near a private property. The owners were putting out heads of lettuce and cabbage and some other greens as well as tubs of water and veggie scraps for the deer. Since the wildfire, the deer have been coming close to Avalon at dawn and dusk looking for food and water. We saw a LOT of deer. I didn't snap too many pics as I didn't want to disturb them. I am glad I got the few I did.

Yacht Club Catalina

Don't you love this old building? I do! It is a private Yacht Club on Catalina...
I think it is just beautiful!
